The catastrophic blast was so powerful that its vibrations were felt in Cyprus, which is 240 km away from Beirut. Around 100 people died, and 4000 got severely injured by the explosion. Its promised that the responsible people would be given severe punishment. The Lebanon government has stated that the reason behind this incident was ammonium nitrate, which was stored in massive quantities in a warehouse.
It was reported that this enormous amount of ammonium nitrate was present at that location from around six years. Some reports concluded that the ignition was caused by firecrackers, which then made contact with ammonium nitrate, resulting in a massive explosion. On the other hand, some people, including Donal Trump, have some different views of the Beirut incident. President Donal Trump claimed that the Beirut incident might be an attack. In contrast, Mark Esper, who is the Defense Secretary of America, made a contrary statement saying that “most believe” that the incident was an accident.
According to Bbc news, 300,000 people have become homeless after the explosion. These are tragedic times for Lebanon, which was already fighting the economic crisis, and now this fatal incident has only put fire in flames. We hope that the injured people have a speedy recovery and return to their normal lives as soon as possible.
