Taylor Swift wins Best Solo Act NME Award 2020

While records are not performing as well as they once did, and digital downloads seem to be diminishing in popularity, Taylor Swift has been steadfast and has still managed to dominate the world of music over the past decade, selling far more singles than any other American artist.

Taylor Swift won Best Solo Act Award in The World at the NME Awards 2020 in London which was held on 12th February 2020. She termed the NME Awards this year as the craziest awards show she has ever been to and that she loved it so much. The event was held at the O2 Academy Brixton and was hosted by Katherine Ryan and Julie Adenuga. To commemorate the win, Swift took shared a photo of her new middle finger trophy on Instagram on Thursday 13 February. And of course, she added to her Lover track, “London Boy,” a little reference. The international pop star beat Lizzo, Lana Del Rey and Billie Eilis as her fellow nominees.

 

The NME Awards celebrated the best music of the last 12 months.
It is an annual track award which is held in the United Kingdom and created through the song magazine, NME (New Musical Express). The first awards show turned into held in 1953 because the NME Poll Winners Concerts, rapidly after the founding of the magazine.

Last time Taylor Swift took home a golden middle finger award was in 2016, but was not in attendance at the ceremony and sent her acceptance speech in a video.
Other winners included Courtney Love who received Icon Award, The 1975 music band received Innovation Award and Best British Band award, Slipknot was handed over the Best Band in the World award, Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy” had the Best Song in the World award and last but not the least, BTS for their Wembley Stadium concert was given the Music Moment of the Year award.
